4. Know Thyself
Let us continue with this quote:
You know what that means? It’s Latin. Means, ‘Know Thyself.’ I’m gonna let you in on a little secret. Being the One is just like being in love. Nobody can tell you you’re in love. You just know it. Through and through. Balls to bones.
- The Oracle, M1
Know Thyself
I’ll go back to the topic of Love, but just going to take a detour and talk about ‘choice’.
"Know Thyself" could be understood as "Understand the Path you’ve Chosen."
Because you didn’t come here to make the choice, you’ve already made it. You’re here to try to understand why you made it. I thought you’d have figured that out by now.
- The Oracle, M2
We can never see past the choices we don’t understand.
- The Oracle, M2
Are you saying I have to choose whether Trinity lives or dies?
- Neo, M2
No. You’ve already made the choice, now you have to understand it.
- The Oracle, M2
Neo saving Morpheus in M1 forced him to make a choice – and through that choice, he gets an outcome which was not a part of the Oracles original equation (the prophecy she game Neo) – remember, her purpose is to unbalance equations.
…That’s his [The Architects] purpose: to balance an equation.
- The Oracle, M3
What’s your purpose?
- Neo, M3
To unbalance it.
- The Oracle, M3
Neo saves both Morpheus and himself – which is not one of the variables the Oracle gave.
You’re going to have to make a choice. In one hand, you will have Morpheus’s life. In the other hand, you will have your own. One of you is going to die. Which one, will be up to you
- The Oracle, M1
Choices in the Matrix are like variables in equations, and unexpected results outside of the variables (choices) can unbalance the original equation of the Matrix iteration.
Neo's decision to fight Agent Smith demonstrates the importance of choice in the Matrix. By choosing to act despite uncertainty, Neo is demonstrating his belief in the power of his decisions to shape the outcome of events. Programs, on the other hand, are threatened by uncertainty as it undermines their predictability and control.
He’s beginning to believe
- Morpheus, M1
In The Matrix it suggests humans unbalance things while programs are seen to balance things.
As Neo and Smith's stories progress, they start to adopt characteristics of the other, with Neo becoming more like a program and Smith becoming more human-like.
The train station symbolizes the threshold between the human and the program world. Neo's presence there highlights his dual nature as both a human and a program. He is able to navigate both worlds and bring balance between them. The fact that the Trainman, who deals with programs, is the one who finds Neo, underscores Neo's increasing program-like qualities.
At exactly the same time, Smith is getting out the Matrix and takes over the human Bane.
Smith is a mind virus and makes Bane murderous.
It is highly likely Bane represents Cain.
The fight in the real world between Neo and Bane/Smith is a retelling of the Cain and Abel story, with Abel (Neo) winning this time.
Smith and Neo switch roles and become the opposite of what they originally were - Smith becomes more human-like with program reasoning, while Neo becomes more program-like with human reasoning.
Anyway,

5. Mobil Ave
and that pesky ‘b’
If that ‘b’ wasn’t in ‘Mobil Ave’ - I would be 100% sold, but since it’s there, I’m 99%
I’ll include this idea, even though I acknowledge it’s a stretch.
M O B I L A V E = almost an anagram for either:
Aim Love
Via Love
It is an anagram for:
Movable I
B Aim Love
Almost = B(eing) Aim Love
Aim Love = Orientate yourself towards love = RHP
Moveable Via Love
Walk the Path Via Love
Enter Sati
The name Sati can have multiple meanings in different cultures.
In Buddhism, it refers to mindfulness or awareness. In Sanskrit, it means faith. In Hindu culture, it refers to the practice of a widow burning herself alive on her husband's pyre, symbolizing devotion, faith, and extreme commitment to love i.e. unconditional love.
Sati’s importance is stated by Smith
…and you must be the last exile.
Agent Smith says this to Sati – M3
The last exile = the redeemer of all humankind and brings peace to the earth
Sati is a program created by her parents but has ‘no purpose’
Sati = unconditional love (different to the True love Trinity represents).
Sati represents the love bestowed by parents unto their children.
Trinity and Sati together = True, Unconditional Love
Her parents’ purpose show ‘ordinary’ people create unconditional love i.e. love exists in the ordinary.
Their jobs: ‘Power Recycling Manager’ and ‘Creative Software Programmer’ sound like solid ‘average’ jobs for programs to create beauty.
This shows the Matrix can create beauty with no purpose – it’s just the programs are terminated for having no purpose – hence Sati is smuggled into the Matrix by the Trainman.
Sati’s parents names are important:
Kamala (her mother) = lotus/pale red and is a name for a Hindu goddess (Lakshmi), she is the goddess of prosperity, good luck and beauty.
Rama – Kandra (her father) = Rama is an important Hindu deity and embodies chivalry and virtue. Kundra wasn’t as defined, but from what I could find, it seems to mean capable, thorough.
This conversation is one of the most important messages in the trilogy:
No. I don’t mind. The answer is simple. I love my daughter very much. I find her to be the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen. But where we are from, that is not enough. Every program that is created must have a purpose; if it does not, it is deleted. I went to the Frenchman to save my daughter. You do not understand.
- Rama-Kandra, M3
I just have never…
- Neo, M3
…heard a program speak of love?
Rama-Kandra – M3
It’s a… human emotion.
- Neo, M3
No, it is a word. What matters is the connection the word implies. I see that you are in love. Can you tell me what you would give to hold on to that connection?
Rama-Kandra – M3
Anything.
- Neo, M3
Then perhaps the reason you’re here is not so different from the reason I’m here.
- Rama-Kandra, M3
Love is not just a human emotion – it is a universal connection.
The connection the word implies is the most, absolute strongest connection cosmically possible – you cannot connect any deeper or more strongly than true, unconditional love – it’s just this is only the word we have for it.
The expression "the map is not the terrain" means that a representation of something, such as a map or a model, is not the same as the thing being represented. Similarly, the word "love" may not fully capture the essence of a deep connection between people, but it is the best available term to describe it.
So, Sati was created with no conditions, no purpose – pure beauty.
But Sati does have a purpose – she arguably has the greatest purpose of all – it’s just that her purpose is not understood fully by the any of the programs (except maybe the Oracle to some extent).
It’s somewhat of a paradox - Sati having ‘no purpose’ is her purpose.
Because in order to understand Sati’s purpose you must have faith/hope – you must believe. You must trust in her existence, even if you do not understand it.
Sati’s purpose was to install love/beauty/no purpose into Agent Smith.
He cannot understand her programming.
Unconditional Love is a mystery to him.
These are the last two lines of the Trilogy – and if the Oracle didn’t know the outcome, then no other program did.
Did you always know?
- Seraph, M3
Oh no. No, I didn’t. But I believed. I believed.
- The Oracle, M3
The Oracle believed in the love the programs, Kamala and Rama-Kandra, had for their daughter, despite not understanding the choice.
The Oracle sacrifices herself for Sati because she believes in the power of love. Despite not fully understanding the choice, she believes that Sati's unconditional love plays a key role and is worth saving from termination.
She believes in the goodness of this choice, even though she doesn't know it to be true.
A deal is made between the Merovingian and the Oracle, in which the latter sacrifices her outer shell code, to save Sati.
I told you before. No one can see beyond a choice they don’t understand, and I mean no one.
- The Oracle, M3
What choice?
- Neo, M3
It doesn’t matter. It’s my choice. I have my mind to make [up], same as you have yours.
- The Oracle, M3
It is like trying to look at one’s own eyes – we can only see their reflections and never truly look upon them.
We cannot fully ‘See’ (understand) the connection – we can only see reflections (choices) based on that connection.
If I may be so bold and say, the journey of unifying Love is to find that person in which the connection is so strong, so true, that you may look upon their eyes and see your own.
6. Cookies Made with Love
Here, take a cookie. I promise by the time you’re done eating it, you’ll feel right as rain.
- The Oracle, M1
The Oracle is the Mother of the Matrix = Mother’s Unconditional Love
This might be a stretch, but I propose the Oracle is spreading a program of hope and faith through her cookies. The idea of love, hope and faith being spread through a sweet and innocent medium.
Whatever it is, I am confident the cookies are a key NEW variable in the current equation – causing the unbalancing.
Remember the Cake the Devil programmed with Lust?
This establishes the trope - food is programmable.
The Oracle is first introduced baking cookies, which she gives to Neo, who takes a bite (this is shown on screen).
This act is repeated in the third movie when she bakes cookies with Sati and gives her a couple before she leaves with Seraph.
The Oracle even offers a plate of cookies to Smith, who then smashes them against the wall.
This repetition of these cookie-baking scenes might suggest that the Oracle is spreading a program through her baked goods.
Now I will admit there is a contradiction here – how can Love be incalculable but also programmable?
To be honest, I am still working this one out – But I think it might be something like this:
Love may be a concept beyond calculation, but its effects and expressions can be observed and potentially mimicked through programming.
Or,
The Oracle may not be programming love, but rather facilitating its growth and presence in the Matrix.
By providing an outlet for hope and faith, the Oracle is encouraging the emergence of a connection that transcends the boundaries of the Matrix and the real world.
Love is not something that can be programmed, but rather a force that exists in the universe. The Oracle's role is to nurture and support its growth, not control it.
That’s it. That’s the secret. You’ve got to use your hands.
- The Oracle, M3
Why?
- Sati, M3
Cookies need love like everything does.
- The Oracle, M3
Use your hands = work
Everything deserves love and this takes work i.e. conscious work.
It then raises the question:
what does the red candy represent in this consideration?
The red candy in this consideration represents the false choice between the matrix and reality.
And the red pill does NOT equal awakening - it represents a false, scripted choice, made to appear as your awakening. Think of the Merovingian and the cake under his control.
The red candy/pill is another example of the trope, coded food.
In M2, the Oracle is testing Neo to see if he will still choose the expected script set by the machines or if he will choose his own path. The fact that Neo does not eat the red candy shows that he has gained agency and is no longer following the script set by the machines.
You can see the red pill as candy in the image below.
Cookies = new variables to unbalance the equation i.e. a new Love/Hope/Faith Program
Candy/Pill = old variables to keep the equation the same
Thank you for reading this far
